Who Has The Power to Edit Reality?
This memorial contemplative soundscape, is a tribute to Dolly’s braces, which featured in the “ true version “ of Moonraker in 1979. At some point in the last decades, Dolly’s braces were no longer showing in any available copies of the film, including personal DVD’s, VHS tapes and the like from the 1980’s up to now.
How did this occur?
How was this seemingly small item, edited out of our reality?
It’s a fascinating study in modern pop culture anomaly and a genuine question to consider as our reality becomes increasingly edited now with the advent of the Internet and its machine culture.
From the BBC’s 2014 obituary for actor Richard Kiel ( who played Jaws in the Bond films ) :
“ Kiel reprised the role of Jaws in the 1979 film Moonraker. The film culminated with Jaws changing sides and joining forces with Bond to save the world. It also saw romance blossom between Jaws and Dolly, a small, pig-tailed blonde with braces, comically played by Blanch Ravalec.”
But, we are “told” her braces never existed now.
